The Devil Wears Prada have a new album.

So TDWP have a new album out, called Dead Throne. I had a listen to a few tracks online. WOW! These guys are just getting better and better. I was lucky enough to see them with Bring Me The Horizon in Gothenburg, Sweden last year. Awesome show. But anyway, check the new album out. Heres a video of the first single. Looks rad.

Fisheye and random snapshits.

I have recently acquired a 8mm 1:3.5 fisheye. Its super sweet!!! I was looking at the Canon EF 15mm 1:2.8 and the Canon EF 8-15mm 1:4, and a bunch of other Sigma wide angle goodies, but i found this gem for a bargain, I was less than a third of the price of the above mentioned. Score.

I debated for a period, whether to maybe wait a bit longer and save the extra cash to buy some L-glass goodness, but i came to the conclusion that A) This is a lens that i will use for fun and playing around 95% of the time. B) I cant justify spending 3X- 4X more on a lens that does "pretty much the same" when i dont live in CPT anymore and dont have a housing or shoot surfing/bodyboarding as much as i would like to.

This is where it gets a bit nerdy. For those that have no interest in Tech-Specs of gear, im sure SABC3 (eller NRK hvis du bo i Norge) has something less mind numbingly boring on right now.

This lens has NO Autofocus. Is this an irritating problem? No. 8mm is so wide, that the sharpness is right across the board regardless, sure if youre a pixel-peeper, you will be disappointed, but you really have to misjudge you distance to your subject BADLY to screw the focus up.

This lens does not line up with the Canon EF (S) mounts so you can control aperture from the body. So you have to dial in your Full Stops and half stops manually on the lens. I actually like this. Im also going to start using my old Mamiya/Sekor 35mm lenses with this feature more.

Filming in HD with this lens is awesome. End of story.

It feels solid in your hands and on the body, just have to watch out for the front element as it protrudes massively! The front lens cap is bit of a joke, going to have to modify it some way so that it fits a bit more snuggly.

Here are some test shots from the weekend. Enjoy.

Gamle by brua i Trondheim, dritt været.

Nose was about 10cm from the front element, this thing is WIDE!!!

Ya, i dunno, could really find a sensible caption for this.

Insomnia sucks...

Cant sleep... I hate insomnia. I seem to have run out of PG13 websites to forage for amusing content. Oh well, watch some more Family Guy... more snus. This .GIF is brought to you by lack of sleep.

Rhino nudges warthog, like a boss.

GOING HOME!!!

Awesome!!! Tickets back to SA are booked. Thanks to some help from Neety and Rolfy, I will be home with my better half (not Jenna!) some time in beginning of December (cant divulge into details, got to keep some surprise!) and will be staying long enough to get some solid swell, bomb some hills and do some serious road tripping!!! AMPED! So I thought I would post a shot of something rad. Værsågod!

Skate Park madness.

I went to shoot some locals at the park last week, with a quick edit, heres what i ended up with:
Philip styling a Smith grind on a fat rail.

Øyvind, Backside Disaster.

Indy grab over the hip in the bowl, Simon.

Work. Not so bad...

So i didnt take this, obviously, but this is what i do for a living. This was out on a semi-submersible drilling platform called Aker Barents. We were doing an inspection on the welds on the crane. Pretty chilled.

Here is a link to check out what the actual platform looks like. BIG!!!

http://www.google.no/search?gcx=c&ix=c1&q=aker+barents&um=1&ie=UTF-8&tbm=isch&source=og&sa=N&hl=no&tab=wi&biw=1513&bih=1066
I thought I should probably put something up here that will keep people entertained, and interested in what im doing at the moment. I am sooooooo behind with editing. I cant bring myself to get started. Besides, now is the last couple of weeks of "summer" in Norway, so I cant quite justify the thought of sitting down for 3-6 hour stints staring at my monitor, when i could be outside skating or seeing the last bits of sun for the next couple of months. But for those of you who dont know i have a Flickr that needs some attention, i will post up some pictures.

PS. Search captaincutloose on Flickr under people and you'll get my stream.

Cheers, N

Welcome!

Hello all.

After much debate, I have decided to take the big plunge into the digital world and start this blog.
Maybe this is a massive mistake.... Uncertainty is sure to follow in the next few days.
Have i made an enormous indentation in my cyber-anonymity? Do I now look the rest of the population who spends there time wasted being sucked into the interweb by trivial annoyances of everyday life? Do people actually care what i have to say and contribute? And further more, do I even care?
What my intention is:
This is a way for mw to vent my opinions to those who are interested, show my photographic work, share cool stuff with family and friends, and meet new and interesting people.
I dont know what else to say really...
We shall see...
